Our product team set out to translate TpT’s vision of making the expertise and wisdom of all the teachers in the world available to anyone, anywhere, at any time, into an empathetic marketplace experience.
We knew that it would be powerful if we made it seamless for educators to satisfactorily evaluate if a teacher-created resource on our marketplace served their needs and the needs of their students.

As the Product Design lead on the Resource Experience (Rx) product team, I was involved in every aspect of the product development process. By deeply understanding our educators & their problems, we collaboratively generated solutions with them in mind while emphasizing the value we created for them along the way.
Furthermore, I also played a major role in communicating the business outcomes of our solutions, then collaboratively seeked creative ways to measure the impact as we test, build, ship and iterate.
We chose to focus on fostering relationships by establishing an open source of communication with our educators. Through surveys, facebook groups, weekly interviews etc., we developed a genuine understanding of our educators’ needs and behaviors in order to proactively curate a personalized marketplace experience that provided a sense of being understood.
Teacher-centered design was the heart of how we approached all intricate opportunities our team encountered. Designing with our educators fostered an iterative environment that encouraged learning and failure, bringing us closer to an empathetic marketplace experience.

Massive props to one of the most genuine and impressive product & design teams. It was an honor being under the leadership of Kris Andrews and it was equally special collaborating with the humble beast Jen Ahern.
